Family Loses Everything in Fire Days Before Christmas
A local Bakersfield family has been devastated by fire just days before Christmas. It all happened last Thursday at 3 a.m. when Stacy Kight, her husband, and their two children were awakened by flames ripping through their home. They were able to make it out safely, but they lost most of their belongings. To make matters worse, when they returned the next day to see the damage, they found that someone had broken into their boarded-up home and stole anything that remained. All that was left was destroyed by the fire. On a solemn but happy note, 7-year-old Serenity was able to find her stuffed animal "Bun-Bun" in the rubble. The family calls that a Christmas miracle.
The family has had help from the American Red Cross, securing a motel and now a temporary home. But the family still needs a working stove, heating, beds, and more. A GoFundMe setup to help the family out. If you can, please consider donating to this cause.
